Services for Alvin V. "Scoop" McKinney, 87, Lawrence, will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. McKinney died Friday, Feb. 16, 1996, at his home.
He was born Nov. 22, 1908, in rural Douglas County, the son of Fred J. and Millie Sutton McKinney.
A lifelong county resident, he graduated from Liberty Memorial High School and was a farmer, dairyman and founding member of Rural Water District No. 5, for which he served on the board.
After retiring in 1973, Mr. McKinney continued to raise beef cattle. He was a member of the International Order of Odd Fellows and was a former member of the Lone Star school board and Clinton Township Board.
He married Esther Sanders on Dec. 6, 1939. She died in 1982.
Survivors include a son, Wayne F., Lawrence; a daughter, Judy Pierson, Lawrence; a brother, Robert J., Tuscon, Ariz.; a sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Johnson, Lawrence; and two grandchildren.
Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday and until service time Monday at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials to the Douglas County Visiting Nurses Assn. They may be sent in care of the funeral home.
