Five more years have been tacked onto Chad Beers' growing prison sentence.
Beers, of Lawrence, was sentenced Thursday to five years imprisonment in Fort Smith, Ark., where he was convicted in November of escaping from the Sebastian County Jail in August 1994.
The sentence will be added to the following prison terms that Beers has compiled over the last few years:
- 14 years in a federal penitentiary for abducting an elderly Clarksville, Ark., man in September 1993.
- A minimum of 10 years in a Nebraska state prison, for crimes he committed after escaping from the Sebastian County Jail.
In addition, Beers was convicted Tuesday of escaping from jail in October in Fayetteville, Ark. A sentencing date has not been scheduled, but federal prosecutors expect Beers to be sentenced for that escape in mid-March.
Meanwhile, Beers has been charged in state court in Fayetteville for crimes he allegedly committed after escaping from jail there. The charges including kidnapping, theft and robbery.
