District Judge Jack Murphy has rejected convicted murderer Abraham Orr's claim that he had inadequate legal representation during his 1994 murder trial in Douglas County.
In a decision released Wednesday, Murphy denied all arguments raised by Orr against his former attorney, Randy McGrath of Lawrence.
"Trial counsel provided reasonably effective assistance in the case, considering all of the circumstances and the evidence from his perspective at the time of defending Mr. Orr," Murphy wrote
Orr, formerly of Topeka, was convicted of the September 1993 murder of Edward D. Lees during a botched carjacking. He is serving a life sentence.
