— Graveside services for Benjamin O. McCarter, 77, Grantville, Kan., will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cabool Cemetery, Cabool.

Mr. McCarter died Tuesday, April 9, 1996, at Hickory Pointe Care Center in Oskaloosa, Kan.

He was born Dec. 21, 1918, in Cabool, the son of Benjamin and Cecil McCarter.

He farmed for more than 20 years in the Cabool area, until he moved in 1970 to Grantville. He was a welder with Allis Chalmers Co. in Topeka, Kan., for 15 years. He retired in 1984.

Mr. McCarter was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 10815 of Meriden, Kan.

He married Ina Fay Buchanan. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include a stepson, John Wilson, Grantville; a brother, Quinnon McCarter, Elk Creek; a sister, Edith DeLaney, Cabool; three stepgrandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

The family will meet with friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Barnett Funeral Home, Oskaloosa, and from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Elliott-Gentry Funeral Home, Cabool.

The family suggests memorials to an organization of the donor's choice.
