The Wellsville City Council on Thursday night authorized the issuance of bonds for the purchase of about six acres of land adjacent to Saddleclub Park for the park's expansion.
The resolution will take effect in about two weeks unless someone files a written petition, City Clerk Donna Reed said.
"I haven't heard any opposition," she said.
Barring public protest, the land -- a grass field just south of the park -- will be used for new baseball and soccer fields, she said.
The park currently holds baseball fields and playground equipment.
The estimated cost of the additional land is $53,600.
