A year ago, somebody said that Monterey Way between 14th Street and Harvard Road would be repaved. What is the current status of that project?
Last year, the city did place a thin layer of asphalt on Monterey between 12th and 14th streets, said Terese Gorman, city engineer.
"Those were just repairs," she said. "By repaving, if they mean to reconstruct to city standards, no. That's not what we did. Those were just major repairs."
Rebuilding the entire stretch of Monterey from 15th to Harvard to city standards -- curbs, gutters, sidewalks and a stable foundation -- is still a few years off, Gorman said.
The city's Capital Improvement Budget schedules the project's design for 1998 with construction in 1999.
