Art students at West Junior High School will have several shows this month, including an exhibit that opens Thursday at the Lawrence Public Library. This exhibit, which ends Nov. 30, includes a sampling of all secondary students in the Lawrence school district.

West students' work will also be displayed until the end of this month at the State Board of Education headquarters in Topeka.

The 3-D classes have been busy this quarter doing a series of boxes. They have formed cubes and polyhedrons from flat paper, made clay boxes from a solid shape, and created a personal collage box that expresses their personality and interests.

Class members also completed a series of papier-mache masks, which are on display at West.

The drawing and painting classes will visit the Nelson-Atkins Museum in Kansas City, Mo., to view the Andrew Wyeth exhibit. They are working with egg tempera painting to learn more about Wyeth's technique.
