One person was killed and three others were injured Sunday night when the driver of a car apparently ran a stop sign and hit another vehicle five miles east of Baldwin.
The crash occurred about 8 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highway 56 and Douglas County Road 1061.
Identities of the people involved in the accident weren't released as of late Sunday night.
A Douglas County sheriff's deputy said a southbound car on the county road appeared to have run a stop sign and collided with a car in the westbound lane of the highway.
One of three people in the southbound car was killed. Two victims were transported to Kansas City area hospitals by rescue helicopter.
Another victim was transported to Olathe Medical Center by Douglas County Ambulance Service.
The accident is under investigation by the Kansas Highway Patrol.
