— Services for Lamar Randell Simmons, 78, Overbrook, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First Christian Church here with the Rev. Richard Hicks officiating. Inurnment will follow in Overbrook Cemetery.

Mrs. Simmons died Thursday, May 25, 1995, at her home. She was born Jan. 28, 1917, at Dombey, Okla., the daughter of Jacob and Levena Randell Miller Stebens. She attended schools in Adams, Okla., and graduated from Adams High School in 1935.

On Aug. 15, 1935, she married Oren Edward Simmons in Liberal. In September 1950, they moved their family to Overbrook, where she assisted in the operation of Simmons Truck Line from 1962 to 1977. Mr. Simmons died June 3, 1992.

Mrs. Simmons was a member of the First Christian Church in Overbrook, where she attended a women's Bible study group and assisted with the Children's Pioneer Club. She worked as a volunteer in the community and assisted with the Meals on Wheels program.

Survivors include a son, Major L. Simmons, Overbrook; two daughters, Joyce N. Rogers, Overbrook, and Marcia M. Atchison, Topeka; two brothers, Marion R. Stebens, Ashland, and Theodore V. Stebens, Denver; two sisters, Doris White, Neosho, Mo., and Modena Decker, Kansas City, Kan.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Greenwood-Roberts Funeral Home in Overbrook, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday.

The family suggest memorial contributions to the First Christian Church Building Fund or Osage Fire District No. 4, Emergency Medical Services, sent in care of Greenwood-Roberts Funeral Home, Overbrook 66524.
