Fort Scott Military graveside services for Joseph August Richards, 70, rural Fort Scott, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Scott. Olson Frary Burkhart Post No. 1165 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Fort Scott will conduct the services.
Mr. Richards, a former Lawrence resident, died Friday, May 26, 1995, at Fort Scott Medicalodge. He was born Aug. 1, 1924, at Lawton, Okla., the son of Edward and Minnie Rogers Richards.
Mr. Richards was a retired construction contractor. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II. He was a member of the Olson Frary Burkhart Post No. 1165 of the VFW in Fort Scott.
Survivors include a daughter, Sherry Buscher, Vidor, Tex.; a brother, Edmond, rural Fort Scott; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel in Fort Scott, where friends may meet before leaving for the cemetery at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday.
