— Memorial services for Byron A. Beery, 97, Ralston, Neb., will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Grace Episcopal Cathedral here. His body was cremated.

Mr. Beery died Thursday, May 18, 1995 at Mercy Care Center.

He was born Jan. 8, 1898, at Lathrop, Mo., the son of Byron B. and Olivia D. Ashey Beery.

Mr. Beery, a Lawrence resident from 1903 to 1987, graduated from Kansas University in 1920 and was a grain auditor at the Bowersock Mill and Power Co.

His family owned the Beery Building on the southwest corner of 11th and Massachusetts streets.

A World War II veteran, Mr. Beery was a member of Dorsey-Liberty Post No. 14 of the American Legion, Trinity Episcopal Church and the Kansas Society of the Sons of the American Revolution.

He also was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Nebraska.

He married Evalyn Mae Hannon on April 3, 1943, at Lawrence. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a daughter, Martha Moorhead, Omaha, Neb.; and a granddaughter.

The family suggests memorials to St. Andrews Episcopal Church or Trinity Episcopal Church.
