Knock on wood.
Kansas University commencement ceremonies Sunday afternoon should roll down the hill according to plan, judging by the forecast from the National Weather Service.
Its Sunday prediction: mostly sunny, high around 70.
Kansas University officials do have a plan in case of rain, however.
In case of heavy rain Sunday morning, an announcement about the location and time of the ceremony will be made at noon Sunday.
Information will be available through the KU Information center (864-3506), Sunflower Cablevision (Channel 6) and several area radio stations, including KANU (91.5 FM), KLZR (105.9 FM), KJHK (90.7 FM), WIBW (AM 580), WDAF (AM 610) and KLWN (AM 1320).
Other rain notes:
- If the weather clears and an outdoor ceremony is to go on, graduates should assemble on Memorial Drive at 5 p.m. for a 5:30 p.m. processional.
- If heavy rain continues, ceremonies will be shifted to Allen Field House. Two ceremonies would be held. The first would cover graduates from allied health, architecture and urban design, business, education, engineering, fine arts, journalism, law, medicine, nursing, pharmacy and social welfare. Those graduates would assemble at 3 p.m. for a 3:30 p.m. ceremony. Remaining graduates -- those from liberal arts and the graduate school -- would assemble at 7 p.m. for a 7:30 p.m. ceremony.
- Hours for regalia return also will be extended if indoor ceremonies are conducted.
