Eudora — Services for Carl R. Williams, 70, Eudora, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Southern Baptist Church here with the Rev. Tim Hartford officiating. Burial will be in the Eudora Cemetery.
Mr. Williams died Wednesday, May 10, 1995, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Leavenworth.
He was born Feb. 22, 1925, in Fox, Ark., the son of Estil and Ethyl Farris Williams. He grew up in the Timbo, Mountain View area of Arkansas. After serving as a sergeant in the U.S. Army in World War II and Korea, he moved to Eudora, working for the Hercules Powder Plant in DeSoto. He later worked at the General Motors plant in Kansas City, Mo., and as a meat cutter at the Clover Leaf Grocery Store in Eudora. He went back to work at Hercules and then was a meat cutter at Bob's Cash Savr Foods, where he worked until he retired.
He married Shirley A. Starkey in 1955 in Eudora. She survives at the home.
Survivors include three sons, Mike and Chris, Eudora, and Kenny, Lawrence; a daughter, Debra Williams, Eudora; two brothers, Heber, Seligman, Mo., and Loren, Timbo, Ark.; three grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren.
Friends may call from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. today at the Eudora Memorial Chapel in Eudora, where the family will meet with friends.
The family suggests memorials to the Carl R. Williams Memorial Fund in care of the Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home in Lawrence, which is in charge of arrangements.
