planned for Jayhawks
For all you superstitious fans, no, there is no spitting in the Kansas River planned for this year's NCAA tournament.
That tradition followed Kansas University coach Roy Williams' superstition two years ago.
A communitywide spit was held to wish KU luck when the team went to the Final Four in New Orleans in 1993. It didn't work. The team lost in the national semifinals.
"That was all because of Roy's superstition," said Cathy Hamilton, reporter for Sunflower Cablevision who organized the event. "I would say anything that is planned (this year) will be dictated by Roy's superstitions. No spits are planned at this time."
