How many people voted in the primary election? What percentage is that of registered voters and of county residents?
Douglas County Clerk Patty Jaimes said 9,311 people voted in the city and school board primaries on Feb. 28. That's 27.3 percent of the 34,125 registered voters who were eligible to vote in that election. According to Jaimes' figures, 5,117 registered voters could not have gone to the polls because they don't reside in a city or school district that was holding a primary.
Jaimes said 39,242 people, or about 46.4 percent of the county's population, are listed on her voter registration rolls.
