I recently saw traffic counters at the corner of 18th and Vermont and at 17th and Massachusetts. What's the point of counting traffic when KU is not in session?
Those counts are being done by the state, said David Woosley, city traffic engineer. Several divisions of the state transportation department conduct traffic counts within Kansas cities, he said.
The city tries to perform counts around the university only when school is in session, Woosley. The city will perform counts in the summer "if it's in an area that is unrelated to the school," he said.
