We've got a guy in our neighborhood who has a bunch of junk cars in his yard. Do we call the police to get them hauled off?
No, according to Sgt. Rick Nickell of the police department. The city has designated an environmental officer to investigate complaints about possible violations of the city's environmental code. That code does prohibit people from storing junked, non-running cars in their yards.
Gayle Weyland is the city's environmental inspector. She can be contacted at her office in city hall at 832-3112.
