— Services for Homer L. Mathia, 73, Lathop, Mo., will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church here. Burial will be in Lathrop Cemetery.

Mr. Mathia died Monday, June 12, 1995, at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.

He was born Dec. 4, 1921, in Eudora, Kan., the son of Henry and Ottie Burnell Mathia. He graduated from Eudora High School and St. Paul School of Theology in Kansas City, Mo. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1942 to 1945 and was wounded in Saipan. He worked for General Motors and Fleming Wholesale Grocery. He served as pastor of the United Methodist Church in Edgerton, Mo., from 1983 to 1987. He was a member of the Kansas City North District of the Northwest Conference of the Missouri Methodist Church. He was also a member and past president of the Lathrop Rotary Club.

He married Peggy Dotson on May 26, 1956, in DeSoto, Kan. She survives at home.

Others survivors include four daughters, Judith Newell and Shelia Gadwood, both of Shawnee, Kan., Ginger Bohachick, North Kansas City, Mo., and Deanna Rounds, Lathrop; a brother, Delbert Mathia, Lawrence, Kan.; a sister, Alberta Elrod, Prairie Village, Kan.; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Bailey Funeral Home in Lathrop, where the family will meet with friends.
