Two Journal-World journalists were among the winners in this year's National Federation of Press Women competition. Winners were announced July 15 at the NFPW convention in Jackson, Miss.

J-W Arts Editor Jan Biles received second-place awards for editing/design in the categories of lifestyle page, lifestyle/entertainment section and single page other than lifestyle/entertainment. She also received honorable mentions for arts/entertainment writing and page layout. The awards were for her work at the Hutchinson News.

J-W police reporter Sherry Pigg received a third-place award in the category of education reporting. She was cited for work done while she was a reporter at the Topeka Capital-Journal.

Biles and Pigg received first-place awards in their respective categories in the Kansas Press Women contest this spring, which allowed them to advance to the national competition.
