— Services for Mildred M. Petrie, 85, McLouth, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the McLouth United Methodist Church with the Rev. Don Powell officiating. Burial will be in McLouth Cemetery.

Mrs. Petrie died Tuesday, July 4, 1995, at the Shawnee Mission Medical Center in Merriam.

She was born Jan. 13, 1910, in Leavenworth County, the daughter of Charles and Jennie Wilkins Means and was a longtime resident of the McLouth area. She was a homemaker and a member of the McLouth United Methodist Church. She was a charter member of the Neighborhood Circle Club in the Woodstock community and a member of the Lawrence Quilters Club. She also was a longtime volunteer at the Cherokee Lodge Nursing Home in Oskaloosa.

She married Daniel C. Petrie on Jan. 3, 1927, in Leavenworth. He died Dec. 27, 1974.

Survivors include a son, James, McLouth; three daughters, Lucille Smith, Topeka, Betty Malone, Shawnee, and Mary Petrie, Overland Park; a brother, John Means, Summerville, S.C., 18 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Samuel and John; a brother, Barney James; a grandson; and a great-grandson.

Friends may call from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Barnett Funeral Home in Oskaloosa.

The family suggests memorials to the Mildred M. Petrie Memorial Scholarship Fund for McLouth School District or the McLouth United Methodist Church Children's Fund in care of the Barnett Funeral Home, P.O. Box 416, Oskaloosa 66066.
