A 44-year-old Lawrence man remained in the Douglas County Jail this morning after his arrest Friday morning on drug charges.
Jail records indicate the man was booked in connection with possession of marijuana with intent to sell. He is expected to make his first court appearance this afternoon.
Police said the suspect was arrested after a Douglas County Sheriff's deputy glanced through the window of his residence in the 1300 block of East 19th and noticed that what appeared to be marijuana was being put into small packages. The deputy was at the residence attempting to serve court papers on another person.
Police Sgt. Rick Nickell said the deputy then knocked on the door and was admitted. He then called for assistance, and the arrest was made.
At the time of the arrest, police seized 900 grams, or about two pounds, of green vegetation believed to be marijuana.
Investigators estimated the street value of the drug at $3,600.
