A reception in honor of Dr. Phil D. Falkenstien, 73, Onaga, will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday at Alvamar Country Club.
Dr. Falkenstien died Saturday, April 22, 1995, in Eureka Springs, Ark.
He was born June 28, 1921, in Onaga, the son of Jesse G. and Laura Taylor Falkenstien.
He graduated from Onaga High School and Scottsbluff (Neb.) Junior College. In 1945, he graduated from the University of Kansas City School of Dentistry. He began his dental practice in Onaga.
During World War II, he was in the Army Specialized Training Program. He served two years as captain in the Air Force during the Korean War and finished his tour of duty at Yuma, Ariz. In 1956, he moved to Lawrence and became associated in dental practice with Dr. Paul Kincaid until his retirement in 1986.
He was a life member of the Lawrence Sertoma Club and a member of the American Dental Assn., Douglas County Dental Society and Pierre Fauchard Honorary Dental Academy. He retired in 1986 to Holiday Island, Ark.
He married Joann McClain in 1945. She survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Becky Solander, Garnett, and Susan Botwinik, Santa Rosa, Calif.; three sons, Marty, San Francisco, Joe, Lawrence, and Tom, Onaga; a brother Hal, Onaga; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The family suggests memorials to the charity of the donor's choice.
