Services for Michael James Notestine, 18, Eudora, will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Mustard Seed Fellowship with the Rev. Pieter Willems officiating. Burial will be in Eudora Cemetery.
Mr. Notestine died Sunday, April 23, 1995, at the Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan., from injuries received in a one-car accident Saturday in Eudora.
He was born Sept. 2, 1976, in Providence, R.I., the son of Richard Lee and Betty Wilkinson Notestine. He had lived in Eudora since 1982.
He was a senior at Eudora High School and had graduated from junior high in Eudora, where he lettered in weightlifting, basketball, track and football. He was on the honor roll and received an outstanding achievement award in poetry writing. At Eudora High School, he also lettered in football and basketball, was captain of the basketball team and participated in track. He was a member of the Cardinal Club and was on the staff of the yearbook and newspaper. He won first place honors in yearbook sports writing and was a football king candidate in the fall of 1994.
Survivors include his parents, of the home; a brother, Richard Daniel, Eudora; two sisters, Kristen Erwin, of the home, and Kerri Notestine, Ottawa; and a grandmother, Sybil Notestine, DeKalb, Ill.
Friends may call from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today at Warren-McElwain Mortuary, where the family will meet with friends.
The family suggests memorials to the Michael J. Notestine Athletic Fund at Eudora High School. They may be sent in care of the mortuary.
