* A Topeka man who was arrested after an investigation into possible drug sales in the 2500 block of Redbud was charged Thursday in Douglas County District Court. Eddie L. Smith Jr., 21, was charged with one count each of sale of cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to sell and violation of the Kansas Drug Tax Stamp Act. His preliminary hearing is scheduled Monday. Smith was arrested Wednesday by members of the Tri-County Drug Enforcement Unit.
- Four drug-related charges were filed Thursday in Douglas County District Court against a Kansas City, Kan., man who was arrested Wednesday after a weeklong investigation by the Tri-County Drug Enforcement Unit. Nathaniel M. Woods, 21, was charged with sale of cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to sell, violation of the Kansas Drug Tax Stamp Act and misdemeanor possession of marijuana. His preliminary hearing was scheduled for Monday. The DEU investigation began after officers received a tip that Woods was attempting to establish a crack cocaine selling operation in a residence in the 1200 block of Rhode Island.
