Burglaries and thefts reported

  • A compact disc player, about four dozen CDs and a 35mm camera were reported stolen between 5 p.m. Monday and 5 a.m. Tuesday from a car parked in the 1000 block of New Hampshire, Lawrence Police officers reported. The loss was listed on police reports at $1,270.

Police reports

  • A 28-year-old Lawrence man is in Douglas County Jail pending $5,000 bond on charges of battery on a police officer and resisting arrest. The man allegedly struck a Lawrence Police officer who answered a 911 call at 2:20 a.m. Tuesday at an apartment in the 1000 block of Indiana. Police officers said the man allegedly was involved in an altercation with a resident of the apartment. The resident was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital with a cut to her eye and was transferred to St. Francis Hospital in Topeka. Her condition was unavailable late this morning.
  • A 28-year-old Kansas City, Kan., man was arrested on charges of battery on a law enforcement officer and possession of stolen property after an incident at 6:35 p.m. Tuesday near the East Lawrence toll plaza on the Kansas Turnpike. Lawrence Police officers said the man had fled from a van that had been reported stolen and had been stopped by Kansas Highway Patrol officers. He was apprehended at 100 Riverfront Rd. The driver of the van, a 33-year-old Topeka man, was arrested on a parole violation. Both men were in jail awaiting their first appearances in court this afternoon.

Injury accidents

  • John D. Olmstead, Baldwin, was treated and released at Lawrence Memorial Hospital after he was struck by a car at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday while he was running in the 2400 block of South Iowa. Olmstead was struck by a vehicle driven by Nancy C. Jacob, Ottawa, who was turning left into a driveway at 2435 Iowa.
