I'm interested in the historical financial arrangement between the taxes of the citizens of the city and Lawrence Memorial Hospital. How does it exist today? Do my taxes go to the hospital, or not?
The 171-bed city-owned Lawrence Memorial Hospital at 325 Maine is self-supporting and receives no direct city tax support. However, because it is owned by the city, LMH also does not pay property taxes, which in 1993 would have amounted to about $379,000 based on its assessed value of about $13 million.
