Services for Alice Mae Murphy Miner, 82, of Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Jeffrey Light officiating.
Mrs. Miner died Sunday, Oct. 2, 1994, at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor.
She was born May 11, 1912, in Scottsburg, Ind., the daughter of John W. and Myrtle S. Murphy. She grew up in Scottsburg and graduated from Scottsburg High School in 1931. She worked as a telephone operator until her marriage. She and her husband lived in the Scottsburg area until 1945 when they moved to Indianapolis. She was a homemaker and a quality control chemist for Stokely Foods. In 1954 they moved to Lawrence, where she worked at part-time and temporary jobs.
She was interested in knitting, crocheting and a variety of other handicrafts and was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church.
She married Gerald L. Miner on March 27, 1937, in Scottsburg. He died in 1980.
Survivors include two sons, Michael E. Miner, Columbus, Ohio, and J. Ronald Miner, Corvallis, Ore.; and seven grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to the Gerald and Alice Miner Scholarship Fund at Scottsburg High School or to the First Presbyterian Church, in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
