Services for Helen Thomas Shenk, 90, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor with the Rev. Donald Evans officiating. Private burial will be in Johnson County Memorial Garden Cemetery in Overland Park.
Mrs. Shenk died Monday, Nov. 28, 1994, at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor.
She was born May 28, 1904, in Mound City, Mo., the daughter of Hazard Perry and Harriet Patton Thomas. She had lived in Lawrence since moving from Siloam Springs, Ark., in 1970.
She attended Northwest Missouri State College in Marysville, Mo. She taught school in Forest City, Mo. From 1953 to 1958, she worked for the Federal Reserve Bank in Kansas City, Mo., and from 1958 until she retired in 1970 she was a dorm director for Westminster College, New Wilmington, Pa.; Monmouth College in Monmouth, Ill.; Washburn University, Topeka; Methodist Children's Home in Tallequah, Okla.; and John Brown University in Siloam Springs. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lawrence.
She married Joe Shenk on June 23, 1931, in Mound City, Mo. He died Nov. 16, 1957.
Survivors include three daughters, Janice Pabodie, Morrow, Ohio, Jean Miller, Grapevine, Tex., and June Mayer, Lawrence; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to the Good Samaritan Fund at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor or to the charity of the donor's choice, in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.
