pizza delivery theft
Lawrence police said this morning that they were continuing to investigate a weekend armed robbery of a pizza delivery driver.
The 18-year-old driver told police he was robbed at gunpoint about 9:45 p.m. Saturday after he attempted to deliver three pizzas in the 1500 block of New Hampshire. The man said he was approached by the gunman as he was returning to his car after learning the occupants of the home had not placed the order.
The robber was described as a black male, 16 to 17 years old and about 5 feet tall. He was wearing a dark gray, hooded sweatshirt and dark pants and was armed with a handgun.
News reports over the weekend erroneously reported that the suspect was a white male.
The suspect in the armed robbery is not believed to have been involved in an attempted armed robbery reported by a Kansas University student about 7:30 p.m. Saturday outside Gertrude Sellards Pearson Hall. The suspects in that incident were reported to be white males, ages 13 to 14.
