* Chad Voelker, age and address unavailable, was treated and released this morning from Lawrence Memorial Hospital for injuries he suffered in a one-vehicle accident about 2 a.m. today on U.S. Highway 40 at the Shawnee-Douglas county line. Further details about the accident were unavailable from the Kansas Highway Patrol.
- The condition of a 20-year-old student at Haskell Indian Nations University who was injured early Thursday in a one-vehicle accident at 12th and Vermont was upgraded to good this morning by officials at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Tim Draper initially had been listed in fair condition. He was injured when his head struck a tree as he was attempting to crawl through the right rear window of a vehicle that was traveling eastbound on 12th Street. Moments after Draper was injured, the vehicle ran off the road at the T-intersection with Vermont, through a flower garden and struck a utility pole.
Criminal case proceedings
- A preliminary hearing is scheduled Nov. 30 for a Lawrence woman charged with stealing more than $500 from a local propane company. The charges allege Branda J. Crockett, 18, 941 Ind., No. 5, stole the money between June 30 and July 12.
- A Junction City woman charged with forging a $675 check on Oct. 26 has been ordered to appear back in court Nov. 21 for a preliminary hearing. Barbara A. Davis, 22, made her first court appearance on the felony charge earlier this week.
