Campers who favored the North Outlet campground at Clinton Lake will have to find somewhere else to stake their tents.
As part of an effort to save money, the U.S. Corps of Engineers has permanently closed the campground.
It was closed because occupancy of the North Outlet campground historically has been low, said Dave Rhoades, park manager.
About 40 of the original 77 campgrounds were closed in 1982 because of low use. Closure of the grounds will not affect the South Outlet Day Use Area south of the campground.
Similar camping facilities are available at Clinton State Park and the Rockhaven campground.
