— Services for Ethel Bates Trower, 90, Topeka, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Barnett Funeral Home here with Garry Pate officiating. Burial will be at Valley Falls Cemetery.

Mrs. Trower died Thursday, June 2, 1994, at Glendale Manor, Topeka.

She was born Feb. 24, 1904, near Oskaloosa, the daughter of John and Nellie Weik Bates.

She attended Ozawkie High School and later attended Strickler's Business College, Topeka. Mrs. Trower also taught piano lessons.

After having lived on a farm near Ozawkie for many years, Mrs. Trower moved in the 1950s to Topeka, where she worked as a licensed practical nurse at Stormont-Vail hospital until she retired in 1969.

She was a member of the East Side Baptist Church, Topeka, and was a 50-year member of the Pleasant View Grange.

She married Chester Trower Feb. 8, 1933. Mr. Trower died March 16, 1980.

Survivors include two sons, Victor Trower, Neodesha, and Nolan Trower, Topeka; a daughter, Shirley Karns, Pratt; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Two grandsons preceded her in death.

The family will greet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at Barnett Funeral Home.

The family suggests memorials to the East Side Baptist Church, 4425 S.E. 29th, Topeka, 66605.
