Burglaries and thefts reported
- Stereo equipment valued at $1,100 was reported stolen between Nov. 26 and 27 from a vehicle parked in the 1900 block of Edgelea, Lawrence police reported today. Entry to the 1993 Geo tracker was gained by tearing the vehicle's removable top. The report indicated damage to the vehicle was estimated at $2,200.
- A Douglas County woman has reported the theft of $1,350 in cash and property to the Douglas County Sheriff's Department. According to the sheriff's report, $350 in cash and some jewelry was taken from the woman's residence south of Lawrence on East 1338 Road between Nov. 26 and Saturday. No sign of forced entry was found at the residence, and authorities have no suspects.
- A Douglas County man has reported to the sheriff's office that someone shot his Walker Fox hound dog between 6:45 a.m. and 8 p.m. Sunday. The man reported he found the dog's body beneath a tree about nine miles southwest of Lawrence on East 850 Road. He told investigators he thought someone had tried to hide the body at that location. The dog was valued at $2,500 on the sheriff's reports. Authorities have no suspects.
