Two Kansas City, Kan., men remained in the Douglas County Jail this morning following their arrest in connection with drug-related charges and the seizure of about 10 grams of what is believed to be cocaine.
The men, ages 22 and 23, and a 20-year-old man also from Kansas City, Kan., who was released after posting a $500 bond, were arrested around 5 p.m. Monday by officers with the Tri-County Drug Enforcement Unit.
Sheriff's Department Lt. Bill Shepard, supervisor of the drug unit, said the arrests were made during a drug-related investigation that involved surveillance in the 800 block of New York.
During the surveillance, officers spotted an eastbound car on New York and recognized the driver as being a suspect in drug activity with an active warrant for his arrest. The car was stopped at 12th and New York after the 22-year-old driver fled southeast on foot. He was captured moments later.
Two bags, which are believed to contain cocaine, were thrown from the car and recovered by police.
