Burglaries and thefts reported
- Tools and equipment valued at $15,860 were taken between 5:30 p.m. Saturday and 6:30 a.m. Monday from a construction site in the 4900 block of Harvard Road, according to a police report. The equipment was taken after burglars used bolt cutters to cut locks on trailers at the site.
- A certificate of deposit valued at $1,000 was taken between July 30 and Thursday from a house in the 100 block of Michigan, according to police reports.
- Stereo equipment valued at $2,500 was taken between 9:15 p.m. Sunday and 12:54 a.m. Monday from an automobile parked in the 500 block of Locust, according to police reports.
- Two 18-year-old Lawrence men were arrested at 1:02 a.m. today in the 3000 block of West Sixth on one felony count each of possession of marijuana with intent to sell. According to a police report, officers were called to the Kwik Shop, Sixth and Kasold, after receiving a call about two men in the area who were acting suspiciously. After stopping the men's car, police received permission to search the automobile where they found a bag of a green, leafy substance believed to be marijuana and $415 in cash. The district attorney's office dropped charges against one of the men. The other man was scheduled for his first court appearance this morning. No bond had been set at press time.
