Burglaries and thefts reported

  • A mountain bicycle valued on a police report at $1,200 was taken between 7 p.m. and 11:35 p.m. Monday from a residence in the 1500 block of Lynch Court, Lawrence police reported today.

Sheriff's reports

  • Vandals caused $2,400 worth of damage to office trailers, fire extinguishers, a trash truck and lumber between 5 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Monday at Century Homes Co. Inc., 640 N. Ninth, Douglas County sheriff's officers reported today.

Injury accidents

  • Dawn R. Pracht, 25, 1910 Maple, and Nicole E. Demby, 24, 1515 Lindenwood, were treated at Lawrence Memorial Hospital and released after an accident at 12:23 p.m. Monday at East 23rd and Haskell, Lawrence police reported today. A police report said Pracht was northbound on Haskell when she stopped behind a beige vehicle whose driver had stopped to talk to someone. While Pracht was stopped, the car she was driving was struck from behind by a car driven by Demby. Demby was cited for inattentive driving.
  • James Noble, 18, YY212 Dover Sq., was treated at Lawrence Memorial Hospital and released after an accident at 12:25 p.m. Monday at Inverness and Nicklaus drives. Lawrence police reported that Noble was a passenger in a car being driven south on Inverness by Andrew J. Hineman, 18, YY212 Dover Sq., that collided with a northbound car driven by Vickie J. Griggy, 40, 1621 Prestwick Dr. Hineman, who was turning left onto Nicklaus when the collision occurred, was cited for failing to yield the right of way.
  • Katherine E. Wainscott, 28, 2200 Harper, and Ethel N. Herren, 46, 133 Perry, were treated at Lawrence Memorial Hospital and released after an accident at 2 p.m. Monday and North Second and Locust streets. Lawrence police reported that Wainscott was northbound on North Second when the car she was driving collided with a southbound van driven by John F. Kaslaitis, 59, Tonganoxie. Herren was a passenger in Wainscott's car. Wainscott was cited for improperly signaling a turn. Kaslaitis, who was turning onto Locust when the accident occurred, was cited for failing to yield the right of way.
  • Leslie M. Rogers, 38, Topeka, was treated at Lawrence Memorial Hospital and released after an accident at 2:16 p.m. Monday at Sixth Street and Lawrence Avenue. Lawrence police reported that Rogers was westbound on Sixth when the car she was driving collided with an eastbound car driven by Max E. Johnson, 87, 1121 Wagon Wheel. Johnson, who was turning onto Lawrence Avenue when the accident occurred, was cited for failing to yield the right of way.
