The 1994-95 class of Leadership Lawrence now is forming.
The program, started in 1982 by the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce, will accept up to 16 Douglas County residents for this year's class.
The goal of Leadership Lawrence is to bring together a "diverse and dynamic group" of potential community leaders and help them learn more about Lawrence while developing their leadership skills, according to the chamber.
Leadership Lawrence participants are required to attend an introductory meeting and seven day-long sessions that focus on a variety of topics including leadership, education, business and industry, government, history, community services and current issues facing the city.
Applicants will be evaluated according to their potential for developing leadership talents, commitment to serve the Douglas County area and decision-shaping responsibilities they have demonstrated in volunteer organizations or in employment.
Applications for the 1994-95 Leadership Lawrence class are available through the chamber office, 734 Vt.
Completed applications must be returned to the chamber office by Sept. 1. Financial assistance is available to class members who need it.
