Prosecutors filed complaints Tuesday against two Lawrence teen-agers in connection with the reported armed robbery Tuesday at the Jayhawk Cafe, 1340 Ohio.
Robert T. Martin, 18, on Tuesday was charged with seven felony counts of aggravated robbery and three felony counts of attempted aggravated robbery.
Kareem A. Austin, 16, was named on a juvenile complaint containing the juvenile equivalent to those same charges, Douglas County Assistant Dist. Atty. Shelley White said.
The two reportedly entered the bar at 1:16 a.m. Tuesday.
While one of the youths reportedly was wielding a handgun, the two allegedly ordered everyone to hit the floor, police reported.
A police report said the pair got some money from the cash register and also made off with about $100 from three of the nine patrons in the bar.
A preliminary hearing for Martin was set for 1:30 p.m. Oct. 25 in Douglas County District Court. He was being held today in the Douglas County Jail on $25,000 bond.
Prosecutors may seek a hearing to have Austin charged as an adult. He is being held at a juvenile detention facility in Reno County.
Access to a juvenile complaint containing Austin's offenses and listing a hearing date was not available this morning.
