A preliminary hearing for a 17-year-old Topekan charged in connection with last Saturday's attempted carjacking has been reset from Monday to Tuesday next week.
A hearing for Abraham M. Orr will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Douglas County District Court.
Orr is charged with felony murder and and attempted robbery in the slaying of Edward D. Lees, who authorities said was killed in a carjacking attempt last Saturday in Riverfront Park north of Lawrence.
Orr was charged as an adult because of adjudications in two prior offenses -- robbery and attempted robbery -- in Shawnee County. Adjudication is the juvenile equivalent of an adult conviction.
Two other 17-year-olds, Courtney L. Crockett and James R. Wadley, both of Topeka, were named on juvenile complaints in connection with the crime.
They were named on juvenile complaints containing the offenses of felony murder and attempted robbery.
Hearings to determine whether Crockett and Wadley should be charged as adults will be scheduled after mid-October, when a Douglas County district judge returns from vacation, officials said.
