Burglaries and thefts reported

-- A ring and gold bracelet valued on a police report at $1,300 were taken between 8:45 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. Thursday in the 500 block of Eldridge, Lawrence police reported.

Police reports

-- A 32-year-old Lawrence man was treated and released from Lawrence Memorial Hospital after reportedly ingesting a substance believed to be cocaine, police reported. Emergency officials at 2:20 a.m. Wednesday were called to the 1200 block of Haskell, where the man reportedly ingested "bad" drugs, a police spokesman said. Police recovered a mirror, razor blade, a white powdery substance, a glass tube and a syringe. No charges have been filed.

Injury accidents

-- Leslie N. Wheeler, 18, 1604 Troon Lane, was treated and released from Lawrence Memorial Hospital after being injured in an accident at 5:50 p.m. Thursday at 23rd Street and Barker Avenue. Wheeler was driving a 1987 Nissan east on 23rd when the vehicle struck a 1986 Chrysler that was stopped in traffic in front of her. The driver of the Chrysler was Ruth Howell, 68, 1173 N 1250 Rd. Wheeler was cited for inattentive driving, police reported.

Condition reports

-- Katherine M. Beran, 26, 811 W. 29th Ter., was listed in fair condition today in the intensive care unit at Lawrence Memorial Hospital after being injured in an accident Monday on 31st near Louisiana. She was expected to be moved out of the ICU unit today, a LMH spokeswoman said.

-- Mert Blocker, 66, Topeka, was listed in fair condition today at the Kansas University Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan., after being burned by hot asphalt Tuesday at Lawrence Asphalt Co. plant east of Lawrence on Kansas Highway 10.

-- Edward L. Erskin, 40, Rt. 3, was listed in fair condition today at the Kansas University Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan., where he was taken by helicopter after being injured in an accident last Friday about two miles north of Lawrence near Midland Junction.

-- Michael Smith, 46, Lawrence, was listed in fair condition today at the Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan., with injuries he suffered in a June 21 car accident on Kansas Highway 32.

-- Troy Goff, 24, 809 Maple, was dismissed Thursday from the Kansas University Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan. He was injured in an accident Aug. 14 at 24th and Naismith in Lawrence.

-- Matthew and Jason Guthrie, both 6, were listed in fair condition at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. They were injured in an automobile accident Aug. 24 east of the Douglas-Leavenworth county line.

-- Timothy Manis, 39, Meriden, was listed in serious condition today at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka, where he was taken after being injured in a traffic accident Aug. 23 about one-half mile west of Lecompton.
