Thursday's edition of the Journal-World gave an incorrect time for a recital by Kansas University faculty members Larry Maxey, clarinetist, and Linda Maxey, marimba player. The recital will begin at 7:30 p.m. Monday in KU's Swarthout Recital Hall.
Because of an editor's error, a quote in a story about Kansas University programs being recognized in two national magazines was unclear. Chancellor Gene Budig said KU would rank higher in U.S. News if the Kansas Legislature allowed KU to adopt qualified admissions. Kansas is the only state in the nation that guarantees Kansas high school graduates a place at a state university. "That fact continues to disadvantage KU in the U.S. News and World Report study because that publication places unusual weight on selectivity," Budig said.
