A 36-year-old Jefferson County man was arrested Saturday after he allegedly kidnapped his ex-wife and sexually assaulted her.
Lt. Orin Turner a detective with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department, gave this account of the incident:
The 42-year-old victim and the suspect went out Friday night. About 2 a.m., the suspect took the victim to his home northwest of Valley Falls where he sexually assaulted her until about 6 a.m.
After the assault, the victim called a friend who came to pick her up. When the victim tried to get into the car, the suspect allegedly beat her, refusing to release her until the victim's friend called on a radio for the victim's husband.
Sheriff's deputies were called to the scene where they arrested the suspect who remained in Jefferson County Jail Monday on felony counts of aggravated assault, aggravated battery, aggravated sexual battery and kidnapping. He also was being held on misdemeanor counts of theft, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, Turner said.
No bond was set. The suspect's first court appearance is scheduled for today.
