Services for Mary A. Steele, 84, Lawrence, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Clinton Parkway Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Ronald D. Mickley officiating, assisted by the Rev. Homer Rule. Burial will be at Silent City Cemetery, DeSoto.

Mrs. Steele died Saturday, Nov. 6, 1993, at Stormont-Vail Regional Medical Center, Topeka.

She was born Sept. 7, 1909, the daughter of Arley Ray and Bertha Ellan Crowell Hidy.

A homemaker, Mrs. Steele moved to Lawrence in 1964. She was a member of the Clinton Parkway Assembly of God Church.

She married Thomas Jefferson Steele on Feb. 24, 1926, at Mound City. He died Oct. 23, 1984.

Survivors include a son, Burrel Steele, DeSoto; four daughters, Virginia Longfellow, Lawrence, Geneva Ray, Lawrence, Deloras Gurney, Pocatello, Idaho, and Ellen Shore, Topeka; three sisters, Arlene Larrison, Bates City, Mo., Mamie Hidy, Frankfort, and Edith Dunlap, Frankfort; 20 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Rumsey Funeral Home, where the family will meet with friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The family suggests memorials to the Clinton Parkway Assembly of God Church. Memorials may be sent in care of the funeral home.
