A Lawrence man suspected of kidnapping and robbery will be returned to Arkansas to face federal charges.
Chad Beers, 24, waived a removal hearing Monday in U.S. District Court in Corpus Christi, Tex., allowing himself to be extradited to Arkansas.
Beers was arrested last Tuesday in Corpus Christi after getting off a bus at a Greyhound station there.
He had been sought since Oct. 4, when he bolted from a Douglas County sheriff's officer who had taken him from jail to a doctor's office for a medical examination. Beers was being held here in connection with the Oct. 1 robbery of Checkers Foods, 23rd and Louisiana.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation alleges that Beers and another man, Jonathan W. Kliem, 18, Lawrence, abducted and robbed an elderly man on Sept. 24 in Clarksville, Ark.
Federal authorities claim Beers and Kliem bound and gagged the victim, then drove him to an Oklahoma town and left him there.
Kliem was arrested Oct. 21 in Hays.
