A 50-year-old Kansas City, Mo., woman who had pleaded guilty to robbing a Lawrence thrift last summer was sentenced Monday in federal district court in Topeka.
U.S. District Judge Sam A. Crow sentenced Carol Ann Scroggins to 46 months in federal prison without parole and an additional two years of supervised release, said Chris Watney, public affairs assistant to the U.S. Attorney in Wichita.
Scroggins pleaded guilty March 9 to the Aug. 6 robbery of Columbia Savings Assn., 901 Vt. She was arrested at a downtown Lawrence restaurant about an hour after the robbery.
Federal prosecutors said Scroggins made off with $3,020 after pointing a toy pistol at a teller. A customer tracked her from the savings and loan to the Low Rider Mexican Cafe, 943 Mass., where she had gone to order tacos and beer.
