Lawrence Memorial Hospital is moving ahead with its construction plans.
During their monthly meeting Wednesday, LMH board members will decide whether to enter into a contract with Henningson, Durham & Richardson Inc., an architectural and engineering firm from Omaha, Neb.
If accepted, the contract would permit HD&R to design the west expansion of the hospital. HD&R will provide construction cost estimates to the board of trustees as their blueprints develop.
The board also plans to hire a managing general contractor to oversee and coordinate construction. The board is scheduled to review a document that lists what the responsibilities of the position are and how a contractor plans to fulfill those responsibilities.
The document will be sent to general contractors across the Midwest. The deadline for answering the proposal is 1 p.m. June 16.
Also on the agenda, the board will decide whether to purchase the property at 1302 and 1314 W. Fourth St. for $78,100.
The April finance report prepared by Dennis Strathmann, LMH's chief financial officer, showed patient activity increasing 11.3 percent last month, at 522 admissions. But births fell short of budget by 13.
The board meets at 9 a.m. Wednesday in the LMH auditorium.
