A computer crash erased shutoff requests from about 30 water customers last week, and city officials are seeking help in reconstructing the database.
``We, in a sense, lost everything,'' said Ed Mullins, the city's finance director. ``Anyone who called in Thursday, we don't know about it.''
Anyone who called the department with shutoff requests Thursday should call again, Mullins said. Each account will remain open until a new shutoff request is made, or a new customer takes over.
The crash also left no trace of the day's address changes.
``We're definitely playing catch-up,'' Mullins said.
The crash occurred Friday in the system's main disk drive, he said. The cause hasn't been determined.
Mullins said affected customers should call 832-3000, and ask for utility billing.
