Services for Joe George Kolars, 85, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Central United Methodist Church, Lawrence, with the Rev. Donald Dunn and Capt. George Windham officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lawrence, with Masonic graveside services conducted by Lawrence Lodge No. 6.
Mr. Kolars died Thursday, March 11, 1993, at Colonial Manor, Lawrence.
He was born Sept. 7, 1907, in Cuba, Kan., the son of Joseph and Anna Sterba Kolars. He married Bertha Lisher on Nov. 5, 1930, in Belleville, and they moved to Lawrence in 1935.
Mr. Kolars was an auto mechanic and worked for the city of Lawrence for several years. He retired from the Kansas University buildings and grounds department in 1972.
He was a member of Central United Methodist Church, Lawrence Masonic Lodge No. 6 A.F.&A.M., Scottish Rite Bodies of Lawrence, White Shrine of Jerusalem Fidelity Chapter No. 11, Adah Chapter No. 7 Order of the Eastern Star, Friendship Rebekkah Lodge No. 754 and was Past Noble Grand of Lawrence Odd Fellows Lodge No. 4.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Karen Kay Clark, Estes Park, Colo.; two sons, Keith Lee, San Antonio, and Bobby Joe, Lawrence; a brother, Ernie, Cuba; a sister, Rose Plevka, McPherson; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
The family suggests memorials to Central United Methodist Church, sent in care of the mortuary.
