Services for Jack Randall Newman, 46, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary with the Rev. Mike Scully officiating. Military graveside services at Oak Hill Cemetery will be conducted by Alford-Clarke Post No. 852 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Mr. Newman died Friday, June 25, 1993, at Colonial Manor of Lawrence. He had cancer.
He was born Aug. 1, 1946, in Emporia, the son of Arthur and Helen Alsop Newman. He earned a bachelor's degree from Kansas Newman College in Wichita and later received a master's degree in occupational therapy.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served in Japan and Turkey.
Mr. Newman, an industrial engineer, had lived in Lawrence since 1986. He was a former resident of Warrensburg, Mo., and Galesburg, Ill. Southern Illinois University sent him to England for two years to teach industrial engineering to the U.S. military.
He was a Catholic and a member of Alford-Clarke Post No. 852 of the VFW of Lawrence and the local Eagles lodge.
Survivors include a daughter, Amy K. Newman, Lawrence; his mother, Helen Newman, Lawrence; two brothers, Dennis, Lawrence, and Patrick, St. Louis; and three sisters, Ella May Sloan and Peggy Offill, both of Lawrence, and Dorothy Okeson, Weston.
The family suggests memorials to the Kansas Special Olympics in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
The family will meet with friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the mortuary.
