Oskaloosa Services for Kenneth H. "Jake" Steffey, 85, Oskaloosa, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Oskaloosa United Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Gerald Voie officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery in Oskaloosa.
Mr. Steffey died Thursday, June 24, 1993, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born Nov. 24, 1907, near Ozawkie, to Mahlon and Ida Griffits Steffey. He graduated from Ozawkie High School in 1926 and attended the Capitol City Commercial College in Topeka.
Mr. Steffey moved to Oskaloosa from Ozawkie in 1961. He retired from the Kansas State Highway Department in 1973 after 34 years of service. He was a longtime member of the United Brethren Church at Ozawkie and later joined the United Presbyterian Church in Oskaloosa.
He was a member of the Pleasant View Grange in Ozawkie since 1921 and a member of the International Order of Odd Fellows Lodge No. 594 of Ozawkie since 1926. In 1947, he assisted a nationwide group by churches taking a boatload of livestock to Poland.
He married Marian Sellers on Nov. 18, 1933, in Ozawkie. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include a daughter, Anita M. Raffurty, Blue Springs, Mo.; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Barnett Funeral Home in Oskaloosa. The family suggests memorials to the Oskaloosa United Presbyterian Church.
